In the black and white version of Cigars of the Pharaoh (page 22, vignette C2), after narrowly escaping certain drowning, Tintin and Snowy meet a strange character, Senhor Oliveira da Figueira.

This friendly Portuguese merchant perfectly embodies the stereotypical peddler. His sales pitch is so persuasive that the two survivors leave with their arms full of objects and gadgets of all kinds.
